Andrew Heiskell Arts Director of The American Academy in Rome

Job

The Arts Director, together with the Director and the Andrew W. Mellon Humanities Professor, fosters the Academy’s scholarly and creative life. As a member of the Academy’s intellectual leadership team, the Arts Director mentors Rome Prize Fellows in the arts, provides intellectual leadership across disciplines, facilitates connections with Rome’s artistic and cultural institutions, cultivates a dynamic and collaborative residential community, and contributes to programming that advances the Academy’s mission. The Arts Director reports to the Director.

The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of achievement in one of the Academy’s arts disciplines; demonstrated leadership experience; a high degree of proficiency in Italian; exceptional interpersonal skills and intellectual generosity; and the willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
